My WILD side...

Animals can bring us great joy and an abundance if inspiration. Just like my love for birds, animal print is always a fabulous spring board of creativity. This week I created my tribute to Zuri.....of course in a fashionable way :)

This is my card print version. I like to create a version that can be used on cards. I will digitally add the text and create a print to mount on 5x7 cards. Perfect to frame, and send.

The original is still in the works. I stopped here to photograph for the card, but will continue to work on this until I have a piece that is hang ready.

I also want to point out this was adapted from a project in Julie Nutting's book Collage Couture. Great book, I highly recommend!

I also added text to my peacock piece, but you will need to stay turned for that one! I'm creating a themed card set, so check back!

April ARTIST at Creative Hands!

Good Morning!
Tomorrow is April first and I hope Mother nature will stop her winter rage on us. It was  blowing snow yesterday and COLD!!! The Cincinnati Reds open today and is too cold for us to go to the opening day parade :(  I could bundle up... but what fun is that??? I  guess the groundhog was wrong.....it is STILL winter! Enough with my morning weather.....tomorrow I have my spring items on display at Creative Hands Studio. I will be the featured artist ALL month so if you are local please visit the gallery. I may not have ever mentioned that I am an addict. I'm sure you think it is art supplies....which I do LOVE, but my real desire....purses, handbags, totes.....call them what you like ... I LOVE them all. I have so many that I need to purge ever so often. I will carry random purses daily, weekly, change with my outfit, you know the drill. What I'm trying to say is my purses are hardly used. I love Vera Bradly for summer, so I need to make room for more. I have 3 great bags listed on EBAY--Click here to get a deal

New items listed!

This will be a really quick update! I tried to get here last week, but I have been soooo busy! First- ETSY update, I added three of these adorable necklaces. I started with several but when I showed a sneak peek on facebook, few got snatched up! My photo skills are poor, but trust me....these are too cute! I have experimented with jewelry making in the past, but this time I love the results. They are cropped images set under glass and then glued into a silver tray. I add a little gift tin, perfect for storage or gift giving! They are in my ETSY store.

READY for CYBER MONDAY!!

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!! We had a long day.....and spent most of our time driving hours in the rain, but we made it to our hometown where we had a quick dinner and a visit that was too short. I shopped a little Friday and put up our tree! Check out my clock, my grandfather made that for me last year, it is totally handmade from recycled/left over wood!.....so cool.....any way:).... Company came here Saturday to visit, so we had a really nice holiday break:)

Now back to business!!

Happy Friday!

The weather is beautiful today! The sun is bright and shiny, and made me feel like spring. So this is what resulted.....a bright fun spring-y kind of painting :) This little girl is a curly red-head, she has set her bluebird free and feels so happy herself. I am still working on her....more pics soon.

I changed my hair to red this week.....not feeling quite happy about my bold change....but time will tell. It feels like a disguise......a bright red blaring...never mind :)

Mondate morning UPDATE!

Halloween is behind us, I hope you all had a safe and fun filled night. We had a few trick or treaters, not many. It was a little cool here, we built a fire and sat outside anyway.

I'm working on custom orders, but I wanted to show you one of my finished pieces. This one is done on an 8x10 wood canvas. Her hat is made of a chipboard bird, that I covered in print papers. I used a Unity stamp for the text. I decided to stripe the sides in black and white....I thought it needed more color and as it turned out I love the look. This one is going to the gallery at the end of the month.

Artsy magnets

I am working on these cute magnets for an up and coming winter art show, I thought I would give you a peek! They are prints on painted wood and have a gloss finish. I may add a few in my ETSY shop over the next few days.

Inspiration for the creative SOUL

This week I have been working hard on all new mini collages. I made 6 new plaques that will go to an art show in November. For now, I have taken prints of the images and mounted them to chipboard to create a set of "inspiration" cards. I have two sets, the first are 6 new prints with positive affirmations for the creative soul. Each card has an affirmation to inspire you and keep you in a "positive" mind set. The second set are 6 of my angel prints. These cards have words of scripture to help those of you who may need words of encouragement and a spiritual uplift to get you through the day. Each set comes with a plastic storage case.

I personally love these kind of cards, I have a set from Louise Hay that I keep in my bedside drawer. I like to read them in the morning, they are just a little reminder to keep a positive attitude and let your creativity flow each day.

Southend Girl STAMP line!!!!

I am so excited to announce the arrival of my new stamp images! My wonderful friend Michelle has added my images to her new line of stamps The Pixie Cottage. Custom Order group

I thought you might want to peek at a custom order I have been working on this week. This is a grouping done in blues and green. I added a little silver and pink here and there. Each piece is centered around a word- Live, Laugh, Love and Grow. I added glitter and crystals, these turned out so cute!

Just BREATHE........

I say this to myself all the time. I think it helps calm my nerves. I have set my ETSY stores on vacation mode, and finished up my auctions until August. We will be leaving in 10 days to visit St Augustine FL ---I am so excited and stressed so I just keep telling myself to just breathe. I painted myself a reminder :0)

Scrapbook layouts DONE!

After a long break I finally got 4 scrapbook layouts finished! Only one will make it to EBAY, the others are going to a home here locally. I will try to get a couple of July layouts done....but that will be a busy month for me (VACATION!!!!). I did my first BEAR necessities paper piecing class this past Saturday at Scraps Etc. in Florence Ky. We had a great turnout, everyone did a fantastic job. I hope all of new paper piecing students had fun, I know I did! The layouts looked great! Why did I forget my camera?

ANYWAY.......I did some painting this weekend and finished a few angels. These are more little mini paintings, and will be listed on EBAY tomorrow night. This angel reminds me of Lucille Ball :0)

I am back on a diet :0( We planned a vacation for July, so maybe that will help keep me on track. I am counting points, if you have done the Weight Watchers plan you know how hard that is....... UGH! I try to work on my art instead of obsess about food. Any other suggestions?
