Weekly pupDATE -Look who needs a home :0)

I just thought I would share an available FURiend. She is at the rescue that my little sweetie Dixie is from. If you are in the Northern Ky/Ohio area and are looking to add to your family check her out. She is at the Bluegrass Boxer Rescue
Look at that sweet face!

10-2-08 UPDATE: I was adopted in June and I have been returned. My family had a job offer to good to be true and they thought I would need a more stable environment. So here I am again looking for a family who will love and protect me, hopefully forever. I am now 8 months old and really want a family to love me. More will be posted shortly along with new pictures.
My name is Zoe, hopefully I will grow into my new name. I am a beautiful 10 week old deaf girl so will be listed as a special needs. I am crate trained and working on my house training. My foster mom has started me on my hand signals and says I am a quick study. Everyone seems to think that I am extremely smart for one so young and given the circumstances of my surrender. You see I was going to be euthanized because I am deaf by my breeder and the rescue ladies could not see that happening. I am to lovable and quite the little lady despite my deafness. Someday when I grow up, I will be a beautiful, intelligent girl who my new family will be proud to have in their family.
Adoption Donation: $275.00

A feature by my niece Taylor Dupree

After reading about my new little rescue dog, my niece Taylor wanted to tell her own story of her animal rescue. Here it is in her own words-

This is how it all started my mom and step dad were driving and it was day time. All of a sudden Juno, my precious baby girl, was in front of the storage unit. They pulled up to her and opened the door [of their car] and she was ours. When I first saw herI immediately wanted to see if she knew any tricks. It turned out she knew how to sit and lay down. Even though she isn't potty trained yet, we get to keep her. Juno has a pretty smile! Her favorite color is a light shade of purple and a light shade of green and her favorite words are family and love.

My new FURiend

Meet Dixie she is a rescue dog. This little cutie was poorly treated by her previous owner but was rescued by a friend of mine at the Bluegrass Boxer Rescue She is learning to be an indoor dog and trying to get along with some rather unpleasent cats. Needless to say I have had my hands full so my scrapbooking has been put on the back burner this week, but thats ok I'm sure she will be worth it! She seems to really like my other two dogs, who were also rescue shelter dogs. If you are looking for a furry friend to add to your family please visit your local shelter and if a certian breed is what you desire then google the breed. You will find tons of groups ran by voluteers who work endlessly to save those breeds that end up in shelters and abusive homes.

Recycle Your Scraps

This year I suggested to my family that we give "earth friendly" Christmas gifts, because it is important to learn more ways we can save the enviroment.....and I love a shopping challenge. With this mind set, I researched a bit and came across this-

It is estimated that each year our scrapbooking industry utilizes over 380,000 trees in the manufacturing of scrapbook supplies. Experts estimate that one tree can yield 8,333 pieces of paper. (Claudia Thompson, Recycled Papers: The Essential Guide, Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 1992.)

My favorite hobby is a huge threat to trees. My passion for paper collecting drives me buy countless pieces of pattern paper. Now my daily challenge is scrapbooking in a earth friendly way. I will say that I save nearly EVERY scrap, but that doesn't stop me from buying it daily. Here are a few suggestions to help recycle and learn a better "EARTH friendly" way to create a legacy for your family, and keep on scrappin'

Recycle. Recycling is the process of turning waste materials such as paper and plastics into a new resource. To recycle, save recyclable items and send or take them to a recycling facility. The facility will process the materials so it can be used in new materials.
The craft of scrapbooking involves a lot of paper products, including cardstock, patterned paper, and packaging. Often scrapbook items are sold in plastic packaging as well. Learn what items can be recycled in your area.
Set up a spot in your scrapbook area for placing items that can be recycled. In my scrapbook area I have one trash can for recycling papers and one for non-recyclable items. Sort paper and other recyclable items as you are scrapping.
When opening a new product, divide the paper and plastic aspects of the product. Sort and place any recyclable items in the appropriate recycling containers.
Support recycled products. Write to the scrapbook manufacturers asking them to consider using recycling materials in their products.

Reuse. Reusing is the process of using items again. Reusing benefits the environment because the material does not need to be processed into a new material. Reusing also benefits other people because more than one person can use the item.
Repair scrapbook tools that have broken.
Find multiple uses for a tool or scrapbook product.
Save scraps of paper in a scrap file to be used later.
Donate to charity items that are no longer used.
Sell items that are no longer used.
Share or trade idea books and magazines with others.
Purchase slightly used items from others or at a garage sale.
Scrapbook supplies often come in attractive packaging. Be creative and use this packaging for various craft projects.

Reduce. Reducing is the process of consuming less and throwing away less.
Purchase durable, long-lasting products.
Do not buy the newest item if an item you have already will do the same thing.
Do not buy new items unnecessarily.
Use old items as much as possible before purchasing new items.
Find items around the house to use instead of buying something new.

By following some of these tips you can keep your supplies to a minimum and help the environment at the same time.
I found these tips online, if you have more suggestions to help me "GO GREEN" in my scrap studio I would love to hear from you!

I have been tagged!

This is my first time being tagged! So here it is, 8 random facts about myself.
1. I love dolls. I have loved them since I was a child. I played with Barbie until I was at least 12 ( can you imagine that now a days?) Even now I will stroll along in the toy department looking at dolls. I have a little collection of Madam Alexander and a few holiday Barbie dolls and I always have dolls on my "watch list"
2. I hate condiments of any kind. I always order everything PLAIN.
3. I love the smell of rain, the ocean and fresh cut grass...
4. I hate the smell of most-nearly all- perfumes.
5. I cannot swim.
6. I dream about living in a little cottage by the ocean.
7. I am a secret para normal fan. I never miss Jason& Grant. I hope to go on ghost hunt one day.
8. I love the 80's

THE RULES1) each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.2) people who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.3) at the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.4) don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Live in Sunshine

Today the sun is shining and I decided to start painting again. I found this wonderful quote by Erma Bombeck, who said "when I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me". with that being said, I'm off to my studio. Have a wonderful and blessed day!
