Queen of Hearts and MORE

I call all my girls "Southend" girls. There is a story there, and I will tell it to you one day. If you grew up with me you kinda know, because you are a south end girl too. My time is limited today, for now I will keep you guessing:)

This teaser ties into my next series of paintings, the little joke we have in my house is "South end girl goes to........" If you remember, I did a large fashion style painting a while back. I called it "South end girl goes to Bryant Park" Now my husband will always ask "Where is the south end girl going this week?" I know its not that funny, but it is the way I paint. I think of places I would love to visit, songs I love to listen to and colors that feel magical. All of my girls are people I know and they each have some where to go.

This week I did a series I call "South end girls goes through the looking glass" because everything is Alice right now, as you all know. I did two more, you will have to check back to see what the others girls found on their journey.

maybe a little late due to daylight saving time change. For all my scrapbooker clients, I listed the last of my saved layouts. These were class samples. Fashion designs

When I was young I dreamed of being a fashion designer, my favorite toy was Fashion Plates. Do you remember those? I'm showing my age :) I quickly learned that to be a real fashion designer you need to sew.....really good. That is a talent, and I do not have the patience it takes to sew. I knew I loved to draw and design clothes, so I spent hours creating paper dolls. I think that is where my art comes from. I wanted to be a fashion designer so it has manifested through my drawings.

For the last week I have been working on a huge piece- 16x20 I named this piece "Bryant Park" if you follow fashion or watch Project Runway you will "get" it.

I'm just a little late.....

on listing my EBAY auctions! I have two encaustic wood collages going on tonight. One I did a while back and have sold it in print several times. I have so many on my walls that I need to part with a few of my favorite originals. This one is called "Little girls, like butterflies need no excuse" This little girl looks like my niece, Summer. I am listing them together, they have my bears and animals paper pieced, they can be used as is or for you creative people pull off the characters and re-use or up-cycle :) on your own pages. Alice in WONDERLAND

I saw it this weekend! I thought it was great, the colors, the costumes..... all very magical. I enjoyed it, no matter what the critics say.

Lindy Gruger Hanson is one of my favorite ETSY artist. I found a give away on her blog this morning - Her art is bold and vibrant. I LOVE the colors and the whimsy, her birds and angels are my favorites. I purchased her collage sheet of positive affirmations a while back, I use them in my art frequently, two of the affirmations are featured in my set of affirmation cards for artists.
